Weston Creek Community Council - Candidate Evening - 24 September 2008
The Weston Creek Community Council invited candidates for the upcoming election to give a presentation at the Weston Club on Wednesday 24 September 2008 at 7.45 pm. Speakers were required to restrict their presentations to the 4 core issues that the WCCC had been working on during the last year. It was felt that if the presentations became more broad ranging, the meeting is likely to hear little more than the general policy promises of the political parties.
The 4 core issues were:
- The residential and freeway development at what was the Deek’s Forest portion of the Molonglo Development,
- The medium density residential development at North Weston
- The future of the Weston and Rivett Primary schools and the surrounding land and ovals
- The proposed new WCCC Centre at the corner of Hindmarsh, Brierly and Parkinson Streets.
