GHD Presentation - Future uses of Belconnen School sites - 22 July 2008

GHD Pty Ltd has was engaged by the ACT Government to undertake the community consultation process on the future use of eight former school sites.

The eight former school sites (now termed “community sites”) are Cook, Weston Creek, Melrose (Chifley), Village Creek (Kambah), North Curtin, Holt, Mount Neighbour (Kambah) and Rivett.

The Belconnen Community Council asked GHD to come to their July community forum (public meeting) meeting in order to gather feedback from Belconnen residents about uses for the Holt and Cook community sites. The meeting date was changed to 22 July 2008 to accommodate GHD as they had a south-side consultation on the night of the regular Belconnen Community Council meeting date and time.

The entire program of consultation activities is available on GHD’s website at http://www.bangthetable.com/communitysites. The Government previously engaged Purdon Associates to review the future use of the eight community sites and consult with the community.

The GHD consultation process forms part of the Government’s $24 million budget initiative to enhance community facilities.

GHD commenced the beginning of its community consultation process on Friday 6 June and will report to Government on the community’s views in mid August 2008.
