Canberrans for Powerstation Relocation Protest - 25 June 2008

The community group - “Canberrans for Power station Relocation Inc” (CPR) held a protest outside the ACT Legislative Assembly on Wednesday, 25 June 2008.

The protest was organized to occur opposite the fountain in Civic Square (London Circuit) outside the public entrance to the Legislative Assembly at midday.

Prior to the protest the group put rally signs on their website, so that individuals could download, print out and bring them along to wave in front of the cameras to help put across their key messages:

  • Power station relocation (to somewhere more suitable to benefit all of Canberra)
  • Independent EIS (Environmental Impact Statement)
  • Community consultation

Apart from the organizers of the event there were also  speakers from the following political parties:

  • Community Alliance Party
  • Australian Motorist Party
  • ACT Greens
  • ACT Liberals
