Weston Creek concerns about North Weston and Molonglo Development

The Weston Creek Community Council believes that the ACT Planning and Land Authority are not consulting with the WCCC and that many residents and local stakeholders are now fearful that things will just go ahead without the community being involved.

The WCCC are starting work on petitions and a letter writing campaign to alert the wider community, ACT Government, Planning Minister, Andrew Barr and Chief Minister, Jon Stanhope, to the outrageous lack of communication by ACTPLA. In November last year a joint submission was sent to ACTPLA by the Weston Creek Community Council, the Orana School, the Baha’i Community, and the Sheikh Community.

All stakeholders are of the opinion that ACTPLA and the ACT Government have not done the right thing by the community, and regard the ACTPLA’s version of consultation as absolutely shameful.

A Meeting was held on Wednesday 30 April 2008 where the residents of the local community demonstrated that Weston Creek is not going to be taken for granted any more.
