Weston Creek Community Council protest outside ACT Legislative Assembly

Weston Creek Community Council Protest

On Wednesday 7th May the Weston Creek Community held a protest outside the main entrance to the ACT Legislative Assembly building on London Circuit.

The point of this protest was to bring attention to the lack of consultation and feedback from the ACT Planning and Land Authority and ACT Government. The main focus again was on North Weston and Deek’s Drive developments. Many residents and local stake holders are fearful that things will just go ahead without their community being involved.

In November last year a joint submission was sent to ACTPLA by the Weston Creek Community Council, the Orana School, the Baha’i Community, and the Sikh Community. The stake holders are of the opinion that ACTPLA and the ACT Government have not done the right thing by the community, and regard the ACTPLA’s version of consultation as absolutely shameful. The purpose of the protest was to show the members of the Legislative Assembly that Weston Creek was not going to be taken for granted.

Please note: There were issues with exposure in this video due to the camera attempting to compensate to the harsh outdoor light, portions appear “washed out”
